Kilkenny is a fantastic city to visit during the Spring or Summer. I am a regular visitor to Kilkenny myself so thought it might be worthwhile to share a few ideas of where to eat and drink during a trip to this weekend break hotspot.
Kilkenny has a large number of top quality pubs in the city centre. Langtons would be the most popular pub for revellers both young and old. However in my opinion Matt the Millers on John Street is a fantastic quintessential Irish Pub worth a visit. On the weekend or on any summer night you are likely to find a fantastic atmosphere due to the live traditional music in the pub.
Yindees Restaurant Downtown is a top quality Thai restaurant. It only opened in 2009 and therefore is still not too difficult to get a table. The food is excellent and the prices are very reasonable and could suit even a modest budget.
A fantastic weekend to visit Kilkenny is during the famous Cat Laughs Comedy Festival. This takes place on 3rd – 7th June 2010. Be sure to book accommodation early as this weekend is very popular with domestic and overseas tourist alike.
And finally, while in Kilkenny you will need somewhere to stay. The Newpark Hotel just outside the City Centre offers fantastic value and can accommodate up to three people per room which is ideal for families or groups.
Enjoy!
