Casas Brancas, Buzios

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

I read a couple of reviews on tripadvisor.com recently and it never ceases to amaze me how some people seem to get it so wrong. Specifically I was reading about a hotel which I stayed in myself back in November, Casas Brancas Hotel & Spa in Buzios, Brazil. To say this hotel is amazing is just about doing it justice. It is a boutique hotel that is effortlessly elegant and a joy to stay in; from the perfect views to the welcoming staff and colonial feel, this is a place that makes for a very special stay.

Anyway, the vast number of reviews on this hotel are extremely positive but I felt I had to look at the “terrible” category to see what had been said. These are very misleading and since they were all posted in 2008 the only thing I can think of is that maybe the hotel went through a few bad months. The reviews can be found on tripadvisor here.

But please, take my word for it, this is a magical hotel in a magical location so if you are thinking of going to Buzios don’t miss it. We stayed in room 26, and while it has no balcony, it has beautiful full length windows overlooking the bay and the terrace is about 10 steps from the door, so a balcony is not really an issue. The staff actually tried to upgrade us while we were there as they were doing some painting near our room and they didn’t want us to be disturbed but we actually preferred our room so didn’t move to the upgrade.

So the message is don’t be misled by a few very inaccurate reviews, contact us if you’re going and I’ll give you all the hints and tips!
